About The LSCB

2006 was a landmark year for all agencies working together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children with the setting up of Local Safeguarding Children Boards under the provisions of the Children Act 2004.

The background to the formation of LSCBs is the shared objective to improve the well being of all children under the Every Child Matters five outcomes. The work of the LSCB has a particular focus on the ‘stay safe’ outcome. Ensuring that work by all agencies to protect children from harm is properly co-ordinated and effective is the key goal of the LSCB.

The establishment of a joint Bournemouth and Poole LSCB from April 2006 demonstrates the commitment to partnership working at all levels, both between agencies and across local authority areas. The Board acknowledges the high level of commitment of statutory agencies and the voluntary and community sector in working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. It also acknowledges the professionalism and dedication of all staff working to protect children from harm and improve outcomes for children and families across Bournemouth and Poole.
