Safguarding children and young people in Private Fostering arrangements and those placed with host families by language schools and other education providers

Terms of Reference

  1. To report at least annually to the Chair of the LCSB (as required for each local authority in Standard 7 National Minimum Standards for Private Fostering)
  2. To give oversight to Private Fostering strategy across Bournemouth and Poole and to ensure implementation of National Minimum Standards across both authorities.
  3. To further develop awareness raising strategies which encourage increased levels of notifications from general public and professionals across both local authorities. 
  4. To ensure safeguarding procedures are in place and implemented in relation to those children in currently unregulated settings; i.e. with host families.
  5. To work closely with language schools and other education providers to ensure appropriate safeguarding and timely notifications.
  6. To identify and raise issues that need further development and contribute where possible to the formulation of legislation and guidance at a national level.

Bournemouth Children's Service : (Service Manager), (Team Manager Fostering) , (Education safeguarding); ( Private Fostering worker)

Poole Children and Young People's Service : (Principal Manager), (Team Manager Fostering), (Designated Senior Practitioner), (Strategy Manager Attendance and Safeguarding), (Private Fostering Social Work Assistant).

(IAG Independent Advisory Group)

Group to meet 3 times a year.
